hint: it's more than just a leotard

What to Wear - Dance Edition

Let’s showcase your strength, style, and artistry — beautifully.

Whether we’re in studio or on location, the goal is to capture what makes you uniquely you as a dancer. Here's how to prepare your wardrobe to help us do just that:

🩰 1. Start With the Basics

  • Leotards – Bring your go-to favorites! Classic black is always stunning, but don’t be afraid to show off bold colors or unique cuts that flatter your lines.
  • Tights – Pack a few options: pink, black, and maybe even a fun or fashion pair depending on the mood of your shoot.
  • Form-fitting dancewear – Two-piece sets, biketards, or crop tops with high-waisted shorts or leggings all work well to show off your form and movement.

🎭 2. Add Personality & Texture

  • Flowy skirts or dresses – These can add a touch of drama, especially for turns, leaps, or windy outdoor shots.
  • Oversized sweaters, denim jackets, or layers – Great for warmups or a more editorial, lifestyle vibe. It’s fun to mix something unexpected in!
  • Unique costumes or fashion pieces – Got a costume you loved from a recent performance? Let's use it! Anything with texture, tulle, sequins, or movement photographs beautifully.

🩴 3. Don’t Forget the Shoes (or lack of them)

  • Ballet, pointe, jazz, or contemporary shoes – Bring what fits your style and technical focus.
  • Bare feet – Sometimes the most powerful images are the raw, grounded ones.

💄 4. Hair + Makeup Tips

  • Hair – Bring hair ties, bobby pins, a brush, and hairspray. You’ll likely want to change styles mid-session (bun, braid, down and flowing).
  • Makeup – A little polish goes a long way on camera. Natural but defined is key. Think: foundation or tinted moisturizer, mascara, blush, and a neutral lip color or gloss.

✨ 5. Final Notes

  • Bring options! The more we have to choose from, the more we can customize each setup and shot to match the mood.
  • Keep it clean. Avoid logos or distracting graphics unless they’re part of the story you want to tell.
  • Confidence is your best accessory. You don’t have to look like anyone else — just like the strongest, most radiant version of yourself.
